Working in the electrical industry requires a wide range of skills and comes with a high level of responsibility. Electricians can work in residential, commercial and industrial environments to install, maintain and fix a number of electrical equipment, including complex wiring and machinery.
Electricians must work as part of a team, but all are personally responsible for maintaining their own safety and the safety of others by providing a quality and reliable service.
With the rise in renewable energy, electricians are carrying out more varied work than ever before, including working with wind turbines, ‘smart’ heating systems and solar panels.
Therefore, it’s important for electricians to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and qualifications.
Chesterfield College's Level 3 Electrotechnical apprenticeship standard has been designed with the needs of employers in mind, ensuring that the practical skills and health and safety awareness knowledge that electricians need are embedded within a comprehensive training and development plan.
