The Corporation Board and committees: Audit, Finance & Corporate Services and Standards & Performance, would like to build a bank of motivated individuals with a commitment to improving standards in education who can act as ambassadors for the College. Interested candidates may be considered for a position on the Corporation Board (Governor) and/or one of its specialist committees (Co-Opted Governor).
The Role
Candidates should have the following experience or attributes:
- A personal commitment to ensure our students and apprentices receive high quality education which ‘Inspires Futures and Changes Lives’
- A commitment to further education and the catchment area of the College Group
- The ability to work constructively and as part of the non-executive team, acting fairly and impartially in the interests of the Board, college, students and stakeholders
- Critical reasoning skills and ability to engage in board-level discussions and decision making which support the strategic direction of the college
- Experience in senior management responsibilities in a professional (public or private sectors) or voluntary capacity is desirable
The Board and its committees meet each, on average, up to 5 times a year. Some additional time will be needed to prepare for the meetings. Link Governor visits are held three times a year and all governors are expected to take part in at least one visit.
Please note this is a voluntary position, members are not paid, however expenses may be claimed in line the college’s Travel and Expenses Policy. The College would particularly welcome applicants from a diverse range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
