Are you looking for an opportunity to boost your confidence, gain life and work skills and make a difference in the community?

If you are aged 16 – 18 and currently not in work, education or training but looking for an opportunity to upskill and get support in finding your next steps, this programme is for you.

What will the STEPS Programme provide?

  • What will the STEPS Programme provide?
  • An English and maths upskill.
  • English and maths teaching and learning personalised to each level.
  • Employability, communication and digital skills development.
  • An opportunity to take part in work experience.
  • Regular 1-1 sessions, working through a career action plan to help meet targets and agree next steps.
  • Mentoring, support and guidance with full access to colleges wider services such as the wellbeing hub.

What will the Programme look like?

The programme will run 5 days a week and completed in 11 Week blocks over 3 terms.

  • Maths
  • English
  • Tutorials
  • Work Experience

Course Structure

What is included in vocational studies?

Boosting personal skills

Set targets to improve your confidence, teamwork, reliability and get into a routine and be ready for your next opportunity.

Health and safety at work

Learn about the importance of Health and Safety at work and transfer it into your industry so you have a head start on the essentials.

Employability skills including CVs, interviews and applications to help you get ahead

Use experiences from the programme to help strengthen your CV, get advice and guidance on how to improve it or start fresh! Get support with your applications so you have the skills to put forward your best first impressions. Prepare for and have interviews with industry professional(s) to boost your experience and prepare you for your next opportunity.

Managing money and financial services

Guidance on how to budget and understand how to make money work better for you. How to compare and save money on various products and services.

Detailed information and guidance on how different financial products work.

Working with the community

Collaborate with your team to fundraise and run a project in the community to make a difference and have worthwhile experiences to share in your interviews.

  • Not currently in employment, education or training
  • No qualifications required.
  • Those with a can-do attitude.
