TRAVELLING TO COLLEGE

One of the first things you will want to consider is how you will get to college. If you live close to campus and you can walk in, that’s great (and healthy). Many of our students travel to Chesterfield by car, bus, train or taxi. For those of you who need to work out the best route to take, we’ve provided all the information you need below.

Support with Travel Costs

Many of our students qualify for free or subsidised travel to college. We can provide bus passes if you qualify for the bursary. Students may also be able to receive contributions for train fair costs if no bus route is available. Find out if you are eligible for support with travel costs here: Bursary/Financial Support

Chesterfield College can easily be reached from Sheffield, Derby, Mansfield, Bolsover, Shirebrook, Matlock, Bakewell and Worksop.

Supported Transport

It can take a long time to get transport support sorted, so apply as soon as you know you are coming to Chesterfield College. Post-16 travel to school – Derbyshire County Council

BLine for Train & Bus

Your b_line card gives you reduced fares on trains and local buses (except Trentbarton services) throughout Derbyshire and to some nearby towns and cities as long as the journey is direct and starts or finishes in Derbyshire.

On Trentbarton services you can use your b_line card as proof of age when you buy their ‘young person’ ticket. If you’ve got a b_line1 card you can use it to prove that you qualify for a child fare or the bus or train company’s own discounted ticket.

With a b_line2 card, you can get up to 25% off adult single and return fares and some saver tickets. Make sure you get the best deal by asking the driver. Visit the government website for more information.
