Functional skills and short courses

Our collection of FREE* Functional Skills courses are useful to anyone, whether in or out of employment. Skills in English, maths and computing are essential for every employee, no matter what their role. Employers who have implemented short English, maths or IT courses to groups of employees have noticed significant improvements to efficiency, team morale, ambition and communication.

If looking for employment, these courses are a fantastic way to bolster a CV and job application to prospective employers.

Our other short courses are another way of bolstering either your CV when looking to apply for a specific career or perhaps you’re a business looking to expand an employee’s skillset.

Improve your numeracy skills

Multiply is a new government-funded programme to help adults improve their numeracy skills.

If you’re aged 19+, live in Derbyshire and don’t have maths GCSE at grade 4/C (or equivalent), you can access these FREE numeracy courses to build your confidence with numbers and progress towards earning a qualification.

Normally teaching assistant courses are done over a year. I like how compact this course is. It’s a lot of information to take in over a short space of time but because it’s taught within 3 weeks, it fits around my personal life. A lot of people on this course wouldn’t be able to do a longer course due to childcare. Three weeks is more manageable and you can plan in advance.”
