  • Your houses income isn’t taken into account
  • Theres no credit check
  • There are no upfront costs
  • The loan will cover all tuition and exam fees for your course

Repayment

You don’t even have to pay back a penny until you’re earning over £25,000 a year! (Plan 5)

Repaying your Advanced Learner Loan is simple. Your monthly repayments will be based on your income, not your loan amount.

For example, if you earn £28,000 per year your monthly repayment will be £22 a month, which is taken from your salary automatically.

If you take out an Advanced Learner Loan for an Access to HE course and then go on to complete an eligible Higher Education course, your loan will be written off.

You may not need an Advanced Learner Loan because your course will be free if your circumstances meet the following criteria:

  • You are aged between 19-23 AND you do not already have a full level 3 qualification and are studying an eligible level 3 course (LE in the Course title)
  • You are 19 years old or over AND you are unemployed or your income is below the earnings threshold of £25,000 studying an eligible level 3 course (FCJ in the course title)
