Derbyshire Young Artist of the Year 2023

 

Are you aged between 8 and 18? Do you enjoy getting creative and want an opportunity to show off your work? Then enter this year Derbyshire Young Artist of the Year award 2023 to be in with a chance of being crowned the winner for 2023.

All the rules about the competition and how to enter are below.

The Brief?

‘Reduce, Recycle, Replace – How do you think we can make the world be more sustainable?’

You will need to create an individual piece of art that showcases your thought, feelings, observations or your take on reduce, recycle, replace. What does this mean to you?  You will also need to include a brief description of what your work stands for and the message you want to get across.

Competition Categories:

  • Fine Art – a form of creative visual art, this could be in the form of Painting, sculpture, architecture, inclusive of written poetry.

 

  • Digital Art – Refers to art made using software, computers, or other electronic devices. Anything produced or made on digital media, such as animations, photographs, illustrations, or digital paintings.

 

  • 3D Art – Art which includes three dimensions: height, width, and depth, It takes up physical, three-dimensional space and it can be observed from all angles. This could be in the form of Statues, sculptures, and carvings.

Age Group Categories:

  • Age 8 to 11
  • Age 12 to 14
  • Age 15 to 18

Competition Category Specification’s:

All entries must be inspired by the open brief – Reduce, Recycle, Replace – How do you think we can make the world be more sustainable?

 

The Prize:

There will be two opportunities to win a prize:

One winner from each age category, who will receive a Hobbycraft voucher

An overall winner who will be selected from all three categories, who will also win a Hobbycraft voucher to spend as you wish.

Deadline Date:

All entries must be submitted by 26th May 2023

Judging

This will take place between 29th May – 5th June – there will be several judges including Curriculum Operations Manager of Arts, Performing Arts, Fashion and Photography, West Studios management and a wide selection of local businesses in the creative field.

The public will also be able to view and vote for the artwork. All submitted artwork will be held at West Studios, Chesterfield College or on our social media platforms.
