Starting college is a big step, and sometimes you might need a bit of extra support along the way.
Our Personal Development (PD) Coaches are here to support you throughout your time at Chesterfield College. They’re someone you can talk to if you’re struggling with something, have a problem you need help with, or simply aren’t sure who to speak to.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you speak to a PD Coach. If something is bothering you or you’re finding things difficult, they can listen, help you understand your options and connect you with the right person or service where needed.
PD Coaches aren’t just there when something has gone wrong. They work with students to understand what might be affecting their attendance, behaviour, engagement or progress and help them find a way forward.
They also work with tutors and other College teams, helping to make sure students get the support they need.
Think of your PD Coach as someone who can help join the dots. If you’re not sure who you need to speak to about something, they can help point you in the right direction.
PD Coaches also deliver EMPOWER, our personal development curriculum.
EMPOWER gives you the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and confidence beyond your main course. Sessions cover a range of topics designed to support you in College, in the workplace and in your wider life.
Each area of the College has a designated Personal Development Coach.
If you’re not sure who your PD Coach is, ask your Personal Tutor. They’ll be able to tell you who your PD Coach is and how you can get in touch with them.
