Learning from industry professionals
Guest speakers played a key part in the week, giving students the chance to hear directly from professionals working across a range of creative sectors.
Photography students heard from Adam Galliford Photography, while Games students welcomed Adam Shepherd from Sheffield Hallam University. Art and Design students also took part in workshops and a guest lecture with Charlotte Miles.
Music students gained industry insight from Brad Stank, while Performing Arts students took part in a dance, performance and musical theatre workshop led by Travis Kerry. The energetic session was particularly well received, with students enjoying his enthusiasm and approach.
Performing Arts and Media students also heard from ITV Director Owain Pennington, alongside guest speakers from Sheffield Hallam University. These sessions gave students a valuable opportunity to learn more about the industry, hear different perspectives and discover the range of pathways available within the creative sector.
New experiences and practical opportunities
Alongside the guest speakers, students took part in practical workshops and activities across Art and Design and other creative subjects, allowing them to put their learning into practice, experiment with new approaches and develop their creative skills.
The week also included a trip to Alton Towers Scarefest, offering students another opportunity to experience something different as part of the programme.
With more than 30 sessions taking place, Creative Industries Week offered students opportunities to learn beyond their usual lessons, build confidence and gain a better understanding of how their studies can connect to future careers.
