Delivered from the Construction Skills Hub which is based in the centre of a live construction site, this short course is designed to equip students with a basic range of skills across multiple trades within the construction industry. This course is perfect for anyone who wants to learn introductory skills in various construction trades.

Course Objectives

  • Engagement in further education.
  • Introduction to basic construction skills.
  • Health & safety awareness on a construction site.
  • Prepare for progression into further learning.

Course Structure

By attending and completing this programme students will achieve a Level 1 Certificate in construction skills, covering the following subjects.

  • Health & Safety
  • Developing Bricklaying Skills
  • Developing Groundworks Skills
  • Developing Carpentry and Joinery Skills
  • Basic Plumbing Skills

Entry Requirements

Willingness to comply with strict health and safety rules. There is no minimum age for this programme.

Assessment methods

Practical with some written tasks.

Fees and funding

Free for Eligible 16-18 year olds. Adult funding available dependant on learner circumstances otherwise course costs apply.

Progression

Progression options for students would include, Level 2 multi skills or Level 2 trade specific qualification.
