Sustainable Construction Skills Bootcamp

Delivered in partnership with a range of local and regional construction employers, the programme focuses on the core skills needed to work safely and effectively on site. Throughout the programme, learners will gain hands-on experience in:

• Health, safety, and site practice, including safe systems of work, PPE, and working at height
• The correct selection, use, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials
• Setting out, measuring, and interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications
• Constructing brick and blockwork, including cavity and solid walls, DPCs, insulation, lintels, and openings
• Understanding modern methods of construction, including timber frame infill systems
• Developing professional behaviours such as teamwork, communication, reliability, and site conduct

On successful completion, learners will be able to sit the exams for their CSCS Green Card, enabling them to work legally on construction sites across the UK. Learners will also be guaranteed an interview with one of our employer partners, providing a direct pathway into employment, an apprenticeship, or further training within the construction sector.

Build the Skills for a Greener Future

Train at Chesterfield College’s Construction Skills Hub and gain practical experience in sustainable construction, retrofit and modern building techniques. Develop the skills employers need to support housing growth, regeneration and Net Zero ambitions across the East Midlands.

To be eligible for this Skills Bootcamp, you must:

• Be aged 19 or over at the start of the programme.
• Be a resident of England, typically within the East Midlands region.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Be unemployed.
• Not already hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in a construction-related subject.
• Be committed to attending and completing the full programme.

No previous construction experience is required, although an interest in construction and a willingness to work in a practical environment are essential.

• Trainee Joiner
• Property Maintenance Operative
• Retrofit Installer Assistant

The programme also provides an excellent route into construction apprenticeships across a range of trades.
