We have won Apprenticeship Training Provider of the Year 2025

13 March 2025

Congratulations to our remarkable Apprenticeship Team for winning the Training Provider of the Year award for 2025 at the FE Week and AELP Apprenticeship and Training Awards, in association with City & Guilds!

Finalists were selected by a panel of 20 judges, including AELP’s CEO Ben Rowland, apprenticeship influencer Holly Hobbs, former skills minister Anne Milton, and Lindsay Conroy, head of apprenticeships at UCAS.

Rhys, our Director of Learning for Engineering, Digital, and Services to Business, attended a special reception hosted by Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Speaker of the House of Commons, in February when we were shortlisted for this award. The nomination arose from our collaboration with Chesterfield Royal Hospital, which has seen us provide support for staff development in Maths and Digital skills, specifically through a programme designed to enhance their use of Microsoft Excel.

Aidan Page, Apprenticeship Coordinator at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, noted, “Having the opportunity to develop this course with Chesterfield College has enabled colleagues to upskill, save time, and collaborate effectively.” Just under 40 members of staff benefited significantly from this college programme, gaining confidence to apply their new skills in everyday work.

The awards ceremony, jointly organised by FE Week and the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP), attracted over 600 nominations across 20 categories, honoring 26 individuals and organisations.

We are immensely proud of the team’s exceptional dedication to providing high-quality training for all our apprentices, students, and employers.

Rhys expressed his excitement, stating, “I am extremely proud of the recognition for the fantastic work undertaken by the team to support our apprentices, students, and employers. This national award highlights our outstanding contribution to training and skills while acknowledging our ongoing commitment to inspiring futures and changing lives.”

With the option to study qualifications from Level 2 through to degree level, it has become a great alternative to a full/part-time course or university. An apprenticeship comes with the added bonus that it comes with a wage and doesn’t come with the debt of a traditional degree.
