National Apprenticeship Week Roundup!
19 February 2025What a successful National Apprenticeship Week!
National Apprenticeship Week is a time to celebrate the achievements and opportunities that apprenticeships offer to our students, employers and local communities, so that’s exactly what we did! At Chesterfield College, we spent the week sharing a series of inspiring events and stories, highlighting the success of our amazing apprentices and the impact of our their apprenticeships.
Celebrating Success Stories
Throughout the week, our socials were packed with content as we shared the journeys of several apprentices who have excelled in their courses. We got to hear from apprentices such as Marc, who is studying a Level 3 Content Creator course, working for Primary Training Solutions, this course has been incredibly impactful in his personal development and building his confidence.
He shared ‘The best thing about an apprenticeship is that it’s more one on one with your tutor rather than you just being in a classroom with a teacher and a full class. You get that time with your tutor to speak about something if you’re struggling or want to learn more about something.‘
These incredible stories showcased the diverse range of apprenticeships we have available at Chesterfield College and how the dedication of our students, employers and teachers has made a significant impact on their lives.

Employer Partnerships
With the help of our partners and apprentices, we got the share stories that showcase our amazing collaboration with businesses that have been so important in providing valuable on-the-job training for our apprentices. We highlighted these partnerships and the mutual benefits of apprenticeships for both employers and learners. One of our apprentices, Charlotte Hems, works in banking operations at Royal Mail, shared how her course had made a difference in her career and future.
She shared ‘One of the most valuable things I’ve learned would be the value and importance of volunteering for things, trying to get as many opportunities as possible. For example, I volunteered for the new apprentice induction day, which including leading and creating activities that would form those peer to peer relationships with each other. I also volunteered to help about with the interview process for new apprenticeship starters.’
Engaging Events
During the week we also celebrated across campus, sharing stories on our screens and hosting an apprenticeship event in the Heartspace, where employers from across Chesterfield came into College to talk to students about their opportunities. We also had staff on hand to support students with advice, career options and more.
Recognition and Awards
To end off an amazing week, we were also so proud to find out that Chesterfield College had been recognized as a finalist in the Apprenticeship and Training Awards! We have been nominated for our work with Chesterfield Royal Hospital to provide support with Maths and Digital growth for their teams, we have built a collaborative programme specifically upskilling the use of Microsoft Excel. Rhys Robinson, Director of Learning – Engineering, Digital and Services to Business, attended a special reception hosted by Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Speaker of the House of Commons, this week. The celebrations will continue with the National Ceremony, taking place during the Apprenticeships and Training Conference 2025 on Tuesday, 11 March. This acknowledgment reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality apprenticeship programs and supporting our students success.
