Chorus for a cause
In December, we raised over £1,000 through ticket sales, raffle tickets and Santa hats sold during the event.
A huge thank you to our performing arts students for providing the evening’s entertainment, and to our hospitality and professional cookery students for serving drinks and canapés.
Plumbing, Electrical and Professional Construction Students took part in a trades skills challenge
During this two day event in February, students worked together to design and build a range of practical, hands-on challenges for students around the college to take part in.
The activities were created to test trade skills, problem solving and teamwork, giving students and staff a fun, engaging experience, showcasing hard work and raising £146.59 for charity.
Performing Arts organised a gala for friends and family
In April, students and staff in the Performing Arts department hosted a beautiful Charity Gala full of music and entertainment.
A big thank you to our talented students and staff for organising such a memorable evening, and a big well done to everyone who performed.
The gala raised over £200, thanks to donations received during the evening. A big thank you to all our guests and everyone who attended and donated.
Automotive students picked up their sponges and buckets
A big well done to our Automotive students and staff for organising and running such a successful charity car wash.
They raised an impressive £115 over the 3 days in April this year.
This was a brilliant way to raise money for a fantastic cause whilst gaining essential skills for the workplace, such as teamwork, communication, finance and customer service.
Pathways Students whipped up delicious treats for a charity bake sale
Our pathways students planned and ran two charity bake sales throughout April to raise money for the charity.
Not only was this a brilliant experience for our students to practice their organisational, practical and customer service skills, but they also raised over £160 for the charity.
Well done to everyone involved.
Our Hair and Beauty Department turned the Heartspace into a salon
Our Level 1, 2 and 3 Hair and Beauty students raised a fantastic £409.79 through their fundraiser in April.
From braiding to nails and face painting, our students provided a fantastic service and showcased some fantastic skills at the same time for a brilliant cause.
Hats off to the hardy souls who took part in the sponsored leg waxing; it was worth the pain! Even our Senior Management Team got in on the act with our Chief Financial Officer sacrificing his leg hair for the cause.
Apprentices, staff and students across Derby and Chesterfield play ball too
Apprentices and staff from the Chesterfield and Derby campuses came together to organise two charity football matches in Spring.
Both matches were played in a fantastic spirit and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved. The apprentices and staff participated with genuine enthusiasm, professionalism, and sportsmanship throughout, representing the college exceptionally well.
The staff team achieved convincing wins of 10–7 in Derby and 12–3 in Chesterfield.
Thanks to the generosity and involvement of all participants and supporters, the event raised £125. Opportunities like this play a valuable role in developing teamwork, confidence, and a strong sense of community, while supporting vital charity work within our local areas.
Sixth Form took over the Heartspace during lunchtime
A big well done to our Sixth Form students and staff for raising an impressive £190 for Weston Park Cancer Charity in May.
The students ran a college wide bingo game in the Heartspace, an impressive raffle, and a quiz to raise money for the charity.
What a fantastic atmosphere over lunchtime, allowing everyone to switch off and have some fun while raising money for those in need.
Hasland choir presents a Summer of Song
Our third annual Evening of Summer Song took place in June.
Our Performing Arts choir combined with Hasland Community Choir to perform a wide range of beautiful arrangements, all ably supported by our fab hospitality students. With a combination of ticket sales, raffles, and drinks/snacks, the event raised a fantastic £ 2,635.00.
Thanks so much to everyone who attended, and well done to everyone involved on such a special night. A big thank you to Cara from Weston Park for attending on the night and chatting with everyone about the wonderful work you do.
