Reporting Student Absence

To help us maintain accurate attendance records and provide appropriate support, students should report absences through the Prospect Self-Absence Reporting System as soon as possible.

Students can access Prospect on their phone or computer and select “Report My Absence” from the navigation menu. They can then enter the date(s) of absence, indicate whether it is a full or partial day, and select the reason for the absence. Depending on the reason provided, students may be asked to upload evidence, such as confirmation of a medical appointment, or provide additional information.

Information for Parents and Carers

If your son or daughter is under 18, you may receive one of two text messages:

  • A notification confirming that your child has self-reported an absence through the Prospect system.
  • A notification informing you that your child has been marked absent and that no absence has been reported.

These messages are intended to keep parents and carers informed and help ensure attendance records remain accurate.

Working Together to Improve Attendance

Regular attendance is vital for academic achievement, wellbeing and future progression. We appreciate the support of parents and carers in helping us address attendance concerns at an early stage.

Where attendance becomes a concern, particularly in cases of persistent absence, we will work closely with students and their families to understand any barriers and identify appropriate support. Prompt responses to absence notifications and encouraging regular attendance can make a significant difference to a student’s success.
