Volunteering

What is volunteering?

At Chesterfield College, there are so many opportunities to get involved in volunteering to really make a difference to the local community. Volunteering is flexible, making it easier for you to get involved.

 Why should I volunteer?

Volunteering looks great on your CV and is also a fantastic way to be one step ahead when completing your UCAS application. Bening a volunteer can also help you to:

  • Make new friends
  • Have fun
  • Gain new skills
  • Keep busy and active
  • Give something back to the community

Where can I volunteer?

We work with a number of local charities and organisations who are looking for volunteers throughout the year. From stewarding at events to gardening, there are so many volunteering opportunities available.

How can I get involved?

The Xtra team can help support you through your volunteer journey. Pop in to the Wellbeing Hub to have a chat with a member of the team – we can help you decide which opportunities are suitable for you.

We also hold regular volunteer meetings once a month during Friday lunchtime (12.15-1pm) to look at the opportunities available. Don’t worry if you’re not in college on Fridays – you can keep in touch with what’s going on through our student message boards and volunteer notices.
