Job Description
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth through the development and retention of existing customer accounts (approx. 70%), alongside the targeted acquisition of new business opportunities (approx. 30%).
This role is ideally suited to someone early in their career with experience in field sales, account management, or customer service, who wants to build a long-term career in commercial or sales leadership. The role balances relationship management, data-led account insight, and practical customer engagement, requiring excellent communication skills alongside strong analytical and presentation capability.
- Manage and develop a portfolio of existing customer accounts to maximise retention, revenue, and long-term value.
- Deliver on-site product demonstrations to existing and prospective customers, tailored to their specific needs.
- Build strong, trusted relationships through regular communication, site visits, and structured review meetings.
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring responsiveness and follow-through.
- Identify and pursue targeted new business opportunities within agreed markets.
- Support the sales process from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, onboarding and business as usual.
- Analyse customer spend data to understand buying behaviour, trends, and growth potential.
- Produce accurate, clear commercial insight using Excel and internal reporting tools
- Act as a professional, trusted representative of the business in customer-facing environments.
- Support pricing and commercial discussions with clear, evidence-based insight.
