This DVSA-recognised IMI Level 3 Award has been developed in partnership with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to provide individuals with the knowledge and practical understanding required to effectively oversee and manage an MOT Vehicle Testing Station (VTS).

The programme is aligned with the National Occupational Standards for MOT Managers and is designed to support those responsible for maintaining high standards of compliance, operational efficiency, and customer service within an MOT test centre.

Course Structure

Throughout the course, learners will gain an understanding of:

  • The legal, regulatory, and compliance responsibilities associated with operating an MOT Vehicle Testing Station.
  • How to effectively manage customer concerns, feedback, and complaints.
  • Techniques for supporting, developing, and supervising MOT centre staff.
  • Quality assurance processes, internal controls, and audit requirements within a testing environment.

On successful completion of the qualification, learners will be able to:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of an MOT Test Centre in line with current legislation and DVSA requirements.
  • Promote and maintain high levels of customer service.
  • Support the development and performance of team members.
  • Understand and implement quality management systems and audit procedures.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with industry standards and best practice.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must not have any unspent convictions relating to motor trade fraud, MOT-related fraud, violence, or intimidation.
