This course aims to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to seven years of age.

Upon completion of the course, you will be qualified as a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner within the Early Years Workforce and will receive a licence to practice to count towards Level 2 ratios. This means that you may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as a nursery practitioner, a classroom assistant or a pre-school practitioner.

When you complete the course, you are also able to progress onto the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications to broaden your options to work in the sector in an unsupervised, higher-paid role with greater responsibility.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above (including English or maths at grade 4/C) or a relevant Level 2 qualification. Suitable for school leavers. Childcare experience in an external setting.

Fees and funding

Free for Eligible 16-18 year olds and 19-24 year olds with EHCP. For 19+ Adults course may be discounted or free dependant on learners circumstances, otherwise Course Costs Apply. Contact advice@chesterfield.ac.uk for more information

Progression

Successful students can progress onto the Level 3 Technical Certificate or Technical Diploma in Childcare and Education, or gain employment working with children and young people.
