In this course, you will work towards achieving a OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Certificate in IT. However, to prepare you for the T Level and progress to that or employment after this course, we will also cover Level 3 modules in Computer Networks, Web Design and Prototyping.

Course Structure

Unit 1 – Essentials of IT

(Hardware and software practicals will be included in this)

Unit 2 – Essentials of Cyber Security

(Cybersecurity practicals will be included in this)

Unit 8 – Using Emerging Technologies

(This will include VR and 3D printing)

Unit 17 – Using Data Analysis Software

(Database and/or spreadsheet software will be used)

The project will use:

Unit 6 – Participating in a project

Unit 4 – Computer Networks

(to provide some outline for a network project)

Unit 21 – We Design and Prototyping

(to provide some outline for a website project)

Entry Requirements

At least four GCSEs grades D/3 or above including Maths or English, or a relevant Level 1 Qualification. You’ll also be required to demonstrate a passion for ICT and Digital.

Assessment methods

Units 1 and 2 are exam based. However, most of the assessments in this course will be conducted through a combination of assignments and presentations alongside a project that is marked. Assignments will evaluate students’ proficiency in ICT and will assess their ability to understand, explain and put into practice the skills they learn. A personal progression plan will be created for every learner including your goals and aspirations.

After competition of this course, students would either progress on to the T Level in Digital, employment within the sector, or another course within the college.
