The EAL Level 1 Certificate in Engineering and Technology is a great introduction to the engineering and manufacturing sector. You’ll develop practical, hands-on skills and gain an understanding of key engineering processes.

This course is ideal if you’re considering a future career or further study in engineering. You will have the opportunity to:

Work with tutors with a rich background of engineering experience from a number of different areas.

  • Train on a variety of specialist equipment in a workshop environment.
  • Take part in activities with some of the leading names in the industry, giving you a first-hand experience of larger engineering environments.
  • Apply for apprenticeships whilst you study – We have a dedicated team whose aim is to help learners find apprenticeships with 1-2-1 support.

Course Structure

The EAL Level 1 Diploma in Engineering Technologies is ideal for anyone starting out in the engineering and manufacturing sector. You’ll develop practical, hands-on skills and basic knowledge across a range of engineering areas.

This course is suitable for school leavers, full-time learners, or adults looking to build confidence and take their first step towards a career in engineering.

During this course you will study these modules:

  • Introduction to Working in Engineering
  • Intorduction to Electrical Installations
  • Intorduction to Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance
  • Bicycle Maintenance
  • Introduction to Computer Aided Design (CAD)

You will also engage with:

• GCSE Maths/English (if required)
• The EMPOWER programme
• Course lead sessions

Entry Requirements

You must have an interest in engineering. You must be willing to learn and develop yourself.

English – 2
Maths – 2

Progression

Successful completion of the Level 1 course and GCSEs will give you the opportunity to progress into either Level 2 Fabrication and Welding or a Level 2 Certificate in Engineering.
