BURSARY/FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Finances shouldn’t get in the way of your ambitions. Depending on your age, and household income, there is a range of financial support available to help you while you’re studying here at Chesterfield College. Find out what support you may be eligible for below.

You may be eligible to access financial support through the following funds during the academic year:

  • 16 to 19 Bursary (including free college meals)
  • 16 to 19 Vulnerable Young Person Bursary
  • 19+ Adult Bursary
  • Advanced Learner Loan Bursary
  • Childcare
  • Higher Education Bursary (only if you are studying on a higher education course eg. HNC/HND/Foundation Degree)

16 – 19

If you are aged between 16-18 or 19+ and have an Education, Health and Care Plan and your household income is below £29,000 you may be eligible for help with the following:

  • Books, equipment and uniform that are essential to complete your course
  • Educational trips and visits approved by the College
  • Travel, if you live more than 2 miles away from the College
  • Free College meals

If your household income is between £29,000 and £41,500, you may be eligible for help with travel only.

19+

If you are aged 19 or above and your household income is below £31,000 you may be eligible for help with the following:

  • Books, equipment and uniform that are essential to complete your course
  • Educational trips and visits approved by the College
  • Travel, if you live more than 2 miles away from the College

If your household income is between £31,000 and £41,500, you may be eligible for help with travel only.

Higher Education Bursary

This applies to anyone of any age on an HNC, HND or Foundation Degree course and with an income under the threshold, and funding their course via a Student Tuition Fee loan, you may be eligible for a small bursary to supplement the Student Finance.

How to apply

Before you apply, you must check that you meet the eligibility criteria above.

You should only apply for support if you have a conditional offer to study with us in September and/or if you are a returning student.

Bursary awards made are provisional and subject to you meeting the conditions of your course offer.

To avoid any delays in processing your application, make sure you have all the required information and evidence of your household income ready to upload as this is needed to complete your application successfully.

We recommend that you apply with support from your parent(s)/guardian(s) if you are under the age of 18.

The deadline for applications is the 24th of October.  Funds are limited and will be awarded based on a first-come, first-served basis so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
