Students claiming discretionary support maybe be eligible for support with childcare costs. This is only available to students 20 or over on the start date of their course. Students can claim support with childcare costs up to a maximum of £2,500 per academic year, per child over the duration of a 35-week study programme.
Where students reach the maximum £2,500 award cap before the end of their programme, subject to necessary funds being available, further financial support may be provided to cover childcare costs. Where a study programme is shorter than 35 weeks, this will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.
Students aged 19 or under can claim childcare support through the Government’s Care to Learn scheme.
