DRUGS AND SUBSTANCE MISUSE

The Chesterfield College Group are pleased to be working with Derbyshire County Council as part of the Coriell Drug and Alcohol Education Award.

Coriell

‘Coriell’ is an ancient Roman word that describes the tribal collaboration of addressing challenges. Our modern day ‘Coriell’ is a collaboration of schools and partners to address the challenges of drug and alcohol use in the comunities our children are growing up in.

Underpinned in the whole school/college approach, Coriell is supported by Derbyshire partners including Derbyshire Constabulary, CGL and Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Children’s Partnership.

Drug and alcohol misuse can affect many areas of an individuals life:

  • Physical health
  • Mental Health
  • Education and Employment
  • Family and relationship breakdown
  • Criminality

There are many services available to individuals who have been affected by drugs and alcohol, the Chesterfield College Group works alongside Change Grow Live and the 1625 Outreach team to provide support services and educational workshops and awareness events throughout the academic year as part of the drug and alcohol education programme for young people.
