Abuse can take many forms and can be difficult to spot. It may be that you feel your child has or is being abused and you do not know how to approach this. If you are concerned but do not feel comfortable speaking with your child, or they are not willing to share, please do get in touch with their Tutor, Personal Development Coach or the Safeguarding Team who may be able to offer advice and can monitor the situation. In an emergency please call 999.
Abuse and Bullying
Abuse may be of a sexual, physical or emotional nature. It may be that your child is being controlled or coerced by others and they do not yet recognise this as an unhealthy relationship. Lots of these issues will be discussed within the Personal Development Curriculum during Tutorials.
Recognising the signs of an abusive relationship
Building and managing relationships is a fundamental part of growing up and developing resilience and independence. Your child will be meeting new people with different life experiences and expectations and it is natural that there will be disagreements from time to time. It is important for your child to know who to speak to if issues arise. Their Personal Development Coach can help them to navigate different relationships and low-level bullying. Bullying can become a safeguarding concern at times and will be managed by the Safeguarding Team along with the Curriculum.
