Travelling to college from Shirebrook

If you’re travelling to Chesterfield College from the Sheffield area there are a number of easy-to-access travel routes available to you.


From the centre of Shirebrook to the centre of Chesterfield, it takes just over 20 minutes by car.

There is a free student car park available at the Infirmary Road campus operated on a first come, first served basis.


The Stagecoach route 1 bus has regular buses into Chesterfield, with stops at Langwith, Bolsover, Scarcliffe, Long Duckmanton, Markham Vale and Calow.

Your bus travel could be free if you are eligible for the bursary.


Catching the train to Chesterfield from Shirebrook is possible, but isn’t the quickest or most efficient of travel methods. There are approximately 19-20 trains available each day, but average travel times are over an hour and a half due to the need to change trains during the journey.

The services available include East Midlands Rail.
