Travelling to college from Derby

If you’re travelling to Chesterfield College from Derby there are a number of easy-to-access travel routes available to you.

Car

From the centre of Derby to the centre of Chesterfield, it takes approximately 35 minutes by car.

There is a free student car park available at the Infirmary Road campus operated on a first come, first served basis.

Bus

The Trent Barton Comet route has regular buses into Chesterfield, with stops at Kilburn, Ripley, Swanwick, Alfreton, Clay Cross, Stretton and Shirland.

Your bus travel could be free if you are eligible for the bursary.

Train

Catching the train is the quickest and easiest way to travel from Derby. Trains are frequent and direct, with up to 39 trains per day to choose from, an average journey time of 20 minutes, and a quickest journey time of just 17 minutes.

The service is available from East Midlands Rail.
