19+ Short Course – Construction Skills

Based at our Construction Skills Hub, located at the heart of a major housing development, this short course in Construction skills offers learners the opportunity to train in a realistic, live-site environment. The course is designed to fast-track learners into employment by developing the practical skills, technical knowledge, and professional behaviours required on today’s construction sites.

Delivered in partnership with a range of local and regional construction employers, the programme focuses on the core skills needed to work safely and effectively on site. Throughout the programme, learners will gain hands-on experience in:

  • Health, safety, and site practice, including safe systems of work, PPE, and working at height
  • The correct selection, use, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Setting out, measuring, and interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Constructing brick and blockwork, including cavity and solid walls, DPCs, insulation, lintels, and openings
  • Understanding modern methods of construction, including timber frame infill systems
  • Developing professional behaviours such as teamwork, communication, reliability, and site conduct

On successful completion, learners will receive their CSCS Green Card, enabling them to work legally on construction sites across the UK. Learners will also be guaranteed an interview with one of our employer partners, providing a direct pathway into employment, an apprenticeship, or further training within the construction sector.

The course is fully funded, removing financial barriers and opening the door to sustainable careers in the construction industry.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You must be aged 19 or over at the start of the course.
  • You must be a resident in England, typically within the East Midlands region
  • You must have the right to work in the UK
  • You must be un-employed with no prior level 2 or 3 certification in construction related qualifications
  • You must be able to commit to the full attendance pattern
