We offer two pathway options for this Qualification: MEDIA PRODUCTION and GAMES DESIGN. This GAMES DESIGN PATHWAY is designed to enable you to develop broad experience and an understanding of game design, preparing you for the reality of the industry with units which focus on 2D design, 3D design, professional practice, audio and interactive media. This course will allow you to choose a progressive path at Level 3 and showcases the careers available to you. You will have an introduction to both the creative and technical aspects of game design and focus on your own personal development to find an area of games that you enjoy and that suits your skillset. You will gain transferable skills, including collaboration, dependability, resilience, imagination, and creativity.
During this course you will be asked to carry out work experience that is relevant to the subject you are studying. This is with an external company and allows you to put what you will learn in the classroom into practice. It will also help you to develop a variety of different skills. Upon completion of the course and placement, it can also help you to secure an apprenticeship, employment or assist you with your application for university.
We recommend that you start thinking about your placement as soon possible and consider potential employers you may want to work with. For further information and advice on industry placements please contact the industry placement team on wex@chesterfield.ac.uk
