This course is designed to develop your understanding of the principles, practices and legislation surrounding inspecting, testing and commisioning electrotechnical systems. You’ll also learn how to plan, prepare and design these systems. The course is intended as a Technical Level qualification. It has been specifically designed for 16-19 year old learners in full time education who have completed the Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation and who are interested in pursuing a career as an electrician.
The qualification may also be suitable for other learners, including adults, who are interested in electrical installation and/or are considering a career change.
You will practice and be assessed in a secure environment on the installation and testing of electrical equipment in accordance with health and safety requirements, together with the relevant theory of electrical installation to the current edition of the wiring regulations. You will utilise BS 7671 and will also acquire relevant understanding of electrical science and principles.
During this course you will be asked to carry out work experience that is relevant to the subject you are studying. This is with an external company and allows you to put what you will learn in the classroom into practice. It will also help you to develop a variety of different skills. Upon completion of the course and the industry placement, it can also help you to secure an apprenticeship, employment or assist you with your application for university.
