Save a Life Scheme receives record sign ups from staff and students
11 October 2023humbled by the feedback the course has received. Both staff and students told him that they have walked away feeling more confident due to completing the course. Nick adds, “A lot of people are fearful of the unknown and wouldn’t always step in to help in a difficult situation. Having the basic lifesaving skills that the course equips them with, gives them enough knowledge to save a life.” The community has always been very keen to drive up the numbers who have completed the course and Nick and his team were delighted to pass the 10,000 mark completion rate. Nick’s plan for the future is to keep getting the word out there so they can reach as many people as possible adding, “Working with organisations like The Chesterfield College Group helps us to achieve our goals.” Adam Godber, the Head of Learning for Vocational Studies and T-levels for The Chesterfield College group explains, “The engagement from staff and students with the CSALS programme has been exceptional and the feedback from the course has been phenomenal. Some of the feedback explained how much safer individuals feel in their own homes or when they’re with friends out and about. The beauty of this Save a Life Course is that it’s not just something they can use in college but as they go through life with their own families and friends.” Adam was over the moon with all the positive feedback. Everyone who completed the course thoroughly enjoyed it and has gained confidence. Both staff and students feel more equipped if they ever get into a situation which requires immediate help. Adam is keen to make sure the course will be included in the induction package in the future, for all new students in the first six weeks of term. Returning students will have completed this course the year before but they will get the option to revisit the course to make sure they can keep their skills sharp and their knowledge where it needs to be.
