When I came on the open day, the staff were really helpful.
“I chose Health and Social Care as I knew I wanted to work for the NHS. When I came on the open day, the staff were really helpful in showing me what the course is about, what I would be learning, and where it could lead me. It confirmed my decision. I applied for the course and made sure I had everything I needed to get a place.”
I have really enjoyed getting to know my coursemates.
“I have really enjoyed getting to know my coursemates. I came to college scared, thinking I wasn’t going to have any friends or anyone to speak to but I have been fine. Learning about subjects I have never considered or heard about before has been really good too.”
Everything I have learnt in my units has helped with the placement.
“I would like to go into Paramedic Science. Adult care is what I’d like to do, rather than children. I did a placement in a care home and also a primary school, the care home was more suited for me. I enjoy working with the elderly. It’s nice to be able to speak to them on a mature level and help them. Everything I have learnt in my units has helped with the placement. The placement likewise, has helped me with assignments when giving examples.”
I want to go to university to study Paramedic Science.
“Next year I will do my second year of medical here and then after that, I want to go to university to study Paramedic Science. Paramedic Science is a three-year course, both practical and classroom-based. In the last year, you are out on the job but with your mentor for guidance.”
All the talks have really helped me confirm my decisions.
“We have had paramedics come in as part of a career talk, which has been really interesting to gain insight. All the talks have really helped me confirm my decisions. I knew I wanted to do something different every day, but finding out the reality has really confirmed my choices. It’s a different environment and setting every day, you don’t know what to expect, and to me, that’s interesting.”
The tutors have been so helpful.
“The tutors have been so helpful. Any problems, especially with assignments, they have helped me so much. They make sure I am where I am capable to be.”
