Secondary Schools

Back to Parents and Schools

The Chesterfield College Engagement team offers a selection of free, informative and educational sessions which are available to all local secondary schools. Please find below a supportive and dynamic Menu of Activities which includes a variety of sessions, such as money management and cyberbullying, to aid personal development.

Chesterfield College Menu of Activities

Apprenticeship Engagement Activities in the Derby area

The offer available to schools through the Menu of Activities has been derived from working partnerships with local secondary schools in order to support their Careers/PSHE) curriculum and also in line with the government’s new law to enforce collaboration between schools and colleges. All academies and free schools are subject to a new duty to provide pupils with access to a range of education and training providers (Careers guidance and access for education and training providers legislation 2018; Department for Education).

The college endeavours to support local schools and the development of young people by providing them with up-to-date, accurate and worthwhile knowledge in relation to both Post 16 progression routes and personal development. Schools may choose a bespoke package that fits their requirements from the outlined Menu of Activities; however one prerequisite is that all Year 11 classes receive the ‘Options at Chesterfield College’ session (or Learning Unlimited Derby Apprenticeships for city schools). Dependent on requirements this can be separate small group sessions or, if needed, a whole year group assembly.
