UAL Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts – September 2024

Funding information: Free for Eligible 16-18 year olds. Adult funding available dependant on learner circumstances otherwise course costs apply.

Course Overview

The qualifications will provide students with an introduction to performance, production and design for the performing arts, enabling them to both re-engage with education and acquire the requisite skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to further education and employment within the performing arts industry.

Course Content

You will develop skills in acting, dance and singing/vocal work. You will study a number of key units including:

  • Communicating with an audience
  • Staging a performance
  • Contextual research
  • Performance and production skills
  • Personal project and presentation
  • Producing and performing to an audience

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above – must include English, Maths and a creative subject (extracurricular performing arts experience will be considered). You will also take part in a group audition workshop, showing your performance skills and passion for performing arts (acting/movement/vocal). If you have not achieved a grade 4 in GCSE English and Maths you will study this as part of your programme. *Applicants without grade 3 in maths may be considered if a high standard of skills is demonstrated at audition*

We offer a natural progression to Level 3 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts and a HNC in Performing Arts Career wise, the Level 2 course would enable progression into industry-related apprenticeships. It could also lead to entry level positions in the following areas/roles: Theatre Design and production Performer (dancer, actor, vocalist)Youth worker Entertainment staff Director Choreographer
