Funding information: Free For Eligible 16-18 year olds and First Full L2 for 19-23 year olds. Free Adult funding available dependant on learner circumstances otherwise course costs apply.

Course Overview

This Bench Joinery course is right for you if you want to work in the industry or you're already employed and require a recognised industry qualification. It will help you to develop your existing skills and knowledge and introduce you to more advanced techniques.

During this course you will be asked to carry out work experience that is relevant to the subject you are studying. This is with an external company and allows you to put what you will learn in the classroom into practice. It will also help you to develop a variety of different skills. Upon completion of the course and the industry placement, it can also help you to secure an apprenticeship, employment or assist you with your application for university. We recommend that you start thinking about your placement as soon as you have applied for your course and consider potential employers you may want to undertake the placement with to help you get the most out of the experience. Key modules on this course include: Health, Safety and Welfare, Construction Technology, Manufacture Routine Joinery Products, Advanced Tool Skills, Using and Maintaining Portable Power Tools

Entry Requirements

Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery.

Assessment Methods

  • Practical assignments
  • written assignments
  • portfolio


You can now progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Bench Joinery. You can also seek employment and, if successful, progress on to an Apprenticeship.
