Course Overview

Level 1 programme that helps you adjust to college life whilst building your confidence and coping skills in everyday situations.

It has been designed to bridge the gap between the familiarity of school and the unfamiliarity of a new college.

  • Are you especially nervous about meeting others?
  • Has it been hard getting back into education after lockdown?
  • Do you need a bit of time to catch up on some social and emotional skills?
  • Do you need a bit of time to work on your independence and resilience before focusing on a career route?

If you said "yes" to any of the above, we can help you 'Step up' to the challenge at your pace.

As well as completing the course, you will go on trips and visits related to your units (additional costs apply), work on projects and events and complete 30 hours work experience within the college environment.

  • Unit 02 Developing self
  • Unit 03 Dealing with problems in daily life
  • Unit 18 Understanding personal identity

Semester 2 – Working in a team

  • Unit 12 Working as part of a group
  • Unit 14 Planning an enterprise activity
  • Unit 15 Running an enterprise activity

Semester 3 – Next steps

  • Unit 19 Investigating a vocational area
  • Unit 20 Preparing for your next steps

In addition to your course units we support 30 hours of work experience, GCSE Math and English and additional Study Skills to benefit you

Entry Requirements

You will need GCSEs at grade 3 or 4.

Upon successful completion of this course you can progress to any Level 2 course at college.
