If you are aged 19+ and your household income is £38,000 or below (please note this may be subject to change) you may be eligible for help with essential course kit, equipment, uniform and/or travel.
19+ ADULT BURSARY AND ADVANCED LEARNER LOAN BURSARY
To be eligible you must be:
- Aged 19 or over on 31st August
- Have a household income of £38,000 or below (please note this may be subject to change)
- Receive Income Support, Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, Universal Credit
If you are dependant on parents/guardians, we will consider your personal income from employment and /or any benefits you may receive. If you have NIL income, you will need to submit proof by supplying three months bank statements.
If you live with a spouse/partner, we will take into account both your personal income and your spouse/partners income.
What you will receive
Please Note: Bursary funds are limited and are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
If your household income is £38,000 or below (please note this may be subject to change)you will be entitled to the following:
- Travel to and from college which is usually in the form of a Stagecoach Travel Pass or a cash contribution if you are unable to access a Stagecoach bus route (only eligible if you live more than 1.5 miles away from College)
- Any essential equipment associated with your course e.g. uniform, kits, materials
- Support with costs associated with any essential educational trips
Childcare costs
Students claiming discretionary support maybe be eligible for support with childcare costs. This is only available to students 20 or over on the start date of their course. Students can claim support with childcare costs up to a maximum of £2,500 per academic year, per child over the duration of a 35-week study programme.
Where students reach the maximum £2,500 award cap before the end of their programme, subject to necessary funds being available, further financial support may be provided to cover childcare costs. Where a study programme is shorter than 35 weeks, this will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.
Students aged 19 or under can claim childcare support through the Government’s Care to Learn scheme.
How to apply
If you are 19 or over as of the 31st August and looking to apply for bursary you will need to submit an application via your learner hub account and follow the instructions below:
- Go to Login (chesterfield.ac.uk).
- Sign in with your learner hub username/email and password (the login details you used when you set up your account and applied for your course). You can reset your password from this page if you need to).
- Once you have logged in, on the homepage, click ‘My Bursaries’.
- Click ‘New Application’ and follow the on-screen instructions to submit your application.
