Travel & tourism students get some extra lessons from an expert!
Louise Bates from Holiday Extras, a UK-based online company providing pre-booked UK airport hotels and parking, came to college last week to give around 30 students some extra tuition and top tips for a career in the travel industry.
During the interactive session where students competed to price up certain booking scenarios that add an extra special start to family holidays Louise trained the learners how to put together the packages that the company is renowned for creating and gave them an insight into what it’s like to work for her company
Louise shared her story of how starting off as an apprentice gave her the work experience and qualifications she needed to get ahead in the travel profession. She said: “I started my working life in a travel agency and then worked in a college agency before moving to Holiday Extras. I know how important it is for students to get the right kind of experience and develop their skills. I hope the training they have had today has given them confidence to use a different system and provide something extra to put on their CV when the time comes to applying for jobs.”
