Higher Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are designed by employers and equip apprentices with the relevant knowledge and skills to prepare them for a successful career in their chosen work area. They also gain valuable work experience and learn transferable skills that prepare them for the future.

The option to study to a degree level has become a great alternative to university. An apprenticeship comes with the bonus that it comes with a wage and doesn’t come with the debt of a traditional degree.

Things to know

  • Higher Apprenticeships take 2 – 5 years to complete.
  • 90% of learners progress into a full-time role within the company they undertake their apprenticeship.
  • Level 4 apprenticeships are equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree.
  • Level 5 apprenticeships are equivalent to a foundation degree.
  • Level 6+ is equivalent to a full undergraduate or master’s degree.
  • Anyone over the age of 16 can apply for a higher-level apprenticeship if they have the required grades.
  • If you don’t have your maths and English qualifications, you will need to study these alongside your apprenticeship at the college.
