At Chesterfield College, we have a wide range of hair and beauty courses on offer including hairdressing, beauty therapy and media make-up artistry. As one of our students, you’ll study in our beauty salon, Looks, where you’ll have the opportunity to practice your skills with your peers and provide treatments for paying customers in a commercial setting.
Our expert tutors have years of experience working in the industry and will help guide you to ensure you leave us with the skills and knowledge you need to excel.

“When I did the hairdressing course at Chesterfield College, I already had Jpepssbeauty. I was working from the corner of my living room. I went to do hairdressing so that I could add to the skills I already had. I didn’t know how to do haircutting and colouring. Going back allowed me to polish my skillset and become a professional hairdresser.”

“One of my favourite elements is foiling. That’s something that I didn’t really know about before starting the course and there are so many things you can do with it. You can do balayage, you can do full heads of highlights.
I’ve also had a work placement in a local salon. It’s been really good to practise the techniques I’ve been learning, both in the salon and at college.
For the Level 2 course, you need a work placement for 1 day a week and that led to a Saturday job for me, which is great!”

“I enjoy doing eyebrow tints, facials and individual lashes the most. On the industry placement, I’ve done eyebrow tinting and waxing, sets of lashes and I’ve had clients in for facials so it’s really boosted my confidence.”
Looks Salon
The Looks salon is the perfect place to treat yourself to a new hairstyle or beauty treatment on campus. Whether you’re after a massage or a manicure, our hair and beauty students can provide professional service and treatment for a fraction of the cost on the high street.
The Looks salon is equipped to the highest standard in order to give you great service in a modern environment whilst providing great value for money. All our salon and spa services are open to the general public, as well as staff and students. The trainees working in the salon and spa are fully supervised at all times by our qualified tutors with vast industry experience.
