So you’ve seen a course you like the look of and you want to start in September 2022. No problem, we are here to help. It is important to apply now to secure your place to join us in the new academic year. Here’s your guide to the application process.
Apply now
Head over to the course section of our website and find the course you’re interested in. Find all the details about what is included in the course and the entry requirements. Click on the ‘apply now’ button on the course page to complete your online application. Don’t forget though, if you need some help choosing the right course we’re still here to offer you some advice. We’ll be in touch
Once we receive your application, one of the Chesterfield College admissions team will contact you by email or phone with a date and time for your chosen courses informal interview. This could be in person or over Microsoft Teams with someone from curriculum. Remember to check your junk email folders and listen to your voicemails. It could be us trying to get in touch.
The ‘interview’
It’s more of a chat about your application than an interview really. Talking through your application will help to make sure you are on the right course. We’ll ask you about why you’ve applied, what you know about the subject you want to study and what career you are hoping to do in the future. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions you might have about college too. We will ask you to come to college to do this.
For a few courses, we might ask you to bring in some examples of the work you have done so far linked to the subject you want to study. For example, in art and design we might want to see your portfolio. We’ll let you know if this is something you need to do.
Your offer
In most cases, you will know straight away if you have been offered a place and at what level. However, in some cases it can take a little longer because the course tutors may need to review some extra information before deciding which course is the best for you.
Look out for a letter from us. As a successful applicant, you’ll receive details of the place you have been offered through the post.
You’ll also start to hear from us about the things you can do to prepare for college life. We’ll keep in touch with you until September to let you know all you need to know about enrolling and starting your course.

Take a moment to celebrate. When you get to this stage you have secured your place for September and you can relax knowing that you have a plan in place. Congratulations and welcome to Chesterfield College!

There’s one more thing to remember. If your offer is based on achieving certain exam results, don’t panic if you don’t get what you need, or even if you do better than expected, on results day. Please contact us so we can work out the best option for you. There will be a place for you at college.
