You don’t have to be famous to be an influencer

You don’t have to be famous to be an influencer or make a difference.

At Chesterfield College, we are always looking for stories of success or inspiration to share with our students in college and future students looking to study here.

‘Influencer’ is a big buzzword around social media. This is normally used to describe celebrities or bloggers who work with brands to review and promote products. The brands aim is to ‘influence’ their audience to buy a product/follow a brand/take an action. We want to take a different stance on the word ‘influencer’ and use it to inspire, be positive and boost our student’s self-confidence.

Our students and former students do incredible things every day that influences other students to follow their dream career paths or do something that has a positive effect on their own or others’ lives.

We will be encouraging our students to think deeper about their actions and what influencing means. It doesn’t have to be someone on Instagram they want to look like or be like, it can be a peer who has inspired them to do something positive.

Launching this campaign we’ll be sharing stories of our students who are saying NO to gender stereotypes and are choosing to #breakthebarriers by studying any subject they choose, regardless of gender identity stereotypes.

Follow our campaign by connecting with us social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
