Sustainability Fair Project Winners 2023

Jonathan Price from City and Guilds came into college yesterday to present the Sustainability Fair Awards. He recently joined us at the college to judge our Sustainability Fair projects. These were planned and created by staff and students in various departments around the college. Initiatives such as repurposing clothes, hedgehog-friendly campuses, recycling rainwater, planting our own herbs to use in the college kitchens and upcycling mobility scooters were just a few of the many brilliant projects presented on the day.

“All of the projects were brilliant. With the world where it is right now, it is exactly the drive we need.”

“The third place goes to the ESOL learners. Some of the stories the group told me were so interesting. There were some really difficult stories but some amazing stories as well. I could really see how much effort you had all put in.”

“In second place is the Vehicle Accident and Repair Department. They repurposed and upcycled mobility scooters. They went from scrap to being able to be used in the community again.”

“Another project I really liked was from the Plumbing and Electrical students. They made a toilet using rainwater that they had harvested to flush it. It was a great invention and great presentation.”

“The first prize goes to the Childhood Studies Department. The Hedgehog Friendly Campus. What I really liked about this project was the collaboration, it was a really big team effort. The way they presented it in stages and the amount of work they had put into the finer detail was amazing. The project really stood out for me.”
