Santa Dash 2023 in partnership with Bluebell Wood

Our annual Santa Dash took place at Queens Park in Chesterfield this morning. Over 100 students and staff members joined us, dressed up in festive attire and with their fundraising donations. The day started with a warm-up from Caroline France, one of our Sports students. Festive music and star jumps, certainly got everyone raring to go.

Courtney Beddingham, a regional fundraiser for Bluebell Wood joined us to thank everyone for fundraising and getting involved. Courtney spoke to us about the partnership with the college and the importance of getting the young generation involved in charity work and volunteering for charities in the community.

“I got in touch with the health and social care department initially to see if any of their students wanted to volunteer at the hospice. They came for a tour in the summer and really enjoyed their visit. From there, the college chose us as their Principal Charity of the Year.

It’s really nice to see the younger generation learning about charities and the things we do. I think a worry for me is that the older generation is typically the giving generation. It’s a pleasure to raise the awareness of Bluebell Wood. We are currently supporting children the same age as the students, so it’s important for them to see how we are helping those children.

Lauren from health and social care is looking at students taking on volunteering roles at charity events over the next year. Some of the students are also going to do work experience at the hospice.

It’s great to see so many students getting involved today. The support from the college has been fantastic.”

We are grateful to Courtney for coming along and supporting our students today and we look forward to our ongoing partnership with Courtney and the Bluebell Wood Hospice.
