Our final Sparks event was a great success

On Tuesday 5th July 2022, a couple of our Access to HE students and one of our college tutors took part in a bespoke Sparks series event.

Wisia, from the University of Derby talked to them about university applications and how to build an effective personal statement that will make them stand out from the crowd.

Manchester Metropolitan and Sheffield Hallam University also joined us to answer all the questions students had about the application process, as well as the financial and general support available to mature students on their journey into Higher Education.

In the afternoon, Chesterfield College Alumni, Annie French, shared her own experience as a mature student who had to juggle between her studies, motherhood and owning a business. She shared a range of useful tips on how to positively navigate through the experience of going back into higher education whilst looking after their physical and mental wellbeing.
