Purpose of post
- To contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social & intellectual care for children placed in the nursery
- To present the company in a professional manner
Uniform
Black shoes, black trousers, Early Years Care & Education polo shirt/sweatshirt/fleece
Duties
- Have an understanding of child development & ensure that the children’s physical, emotional, social & intellectual needs are met
- Work in conjunction with Nursery’s staff team to provide activities which are age & stage-appropriate
- Be aware of all aspects of safety & security within the nursery
- Provide a role model for children attending the nursery
- Be aware of the additional needs of some children – work alongside the Nursery’s staff team to ensure full integration within the nursery
- Support & liaise with all staff members – engage in good team practices
- Undertake certain domestic jobs, e.g. preparation of tea, sterilising toys/equipment, hoovering etc
- Contribute to ensuring the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures & religious backgrounds, & stages of development
- Be aware of the high profile of the nursery & to uphold its standards at all times
- Uphold all nursery policies & procedures
- Discourage any negative behaviour that may be displayed, either verbal or physical. Report to the management team any instances of unfair behaviour/bullying that is observed between children &/or staff
- Uphold the confidentiality policy of the company
Plus the obvious aspects of the role: playing, communicating, encouraging, caring for & educating the children! Reading to them, singing, craft activities, sensory play, outdoor play, supervising mealtimes etc.
