Music Industry Day brings together music legends and fresh new talent

Our Music Industry Day took place earlier this week, with professionals and visiting artists from Nottingham, Derby and the surrounding areas showcasing their professional skills and talents.

John and his wonderful team from University of Derby showcased their facilities and courses in music production and popular music. These tutors trained some of the music staff at Chesterfield College and it was great to see the next generation of music students getting excited about their progression options after college.

Martyn Stonehouse, our in-house engineer, showcased his professional background having recently attended and taken part in releases for digital games.

Andy Dawson, from Inspire Youth Arts, spoke about the inclusive work he does with his team of artists and students with SEN needs. Based in Mansfield, The Old Library is an arts hub for all young people.

Our in house bands also auditioned for slots to perform at the event. They played alongside our 2022 “Principal’s Battle of the Bands” winners, Royal Deficiency. Future Sound of Nottingham winners, ALT BLK ERA, also performed at the event, dedicating their time to some exciting performances.

Music Tutor, Rob Huskinson, who helped run the event, said:

“A massive thank you to the music and technical staff involved (Andy Mulcaster, Martyn Stonehouse, Jon Salisbury, Jack Pyatt) in making the event a success and for the students who attended and brought the show to life. We hope these days clearly showcase your ambitions and have a great impact on your future career choices.”
