The demand for creative digital content and people with skills in film, video, photography and sound has never been greater. Our media courses give you the opportunity to develop skills in cinematography, sound recording and post-production editing across a range of genres. You’ll also have the chance to produce you own short films, adverts, music videos and much more. At Chesterfield College we have excellent facilities including a range of DSLR and full-size video cameras, audio recording and lighting kits, a range of camera stabilisers, a VariZoom camera crane and dedicated Mac editing suites running Adobe Premiere and After Effects Software. With all of the latest technology you can really get to grips with the equipment you’ll be using if you continue on to a career in media or photography.

The range of courses we offer have been carefully chosen to ensure that when you leave us, you’re ready for work, an apprenticeship or further study at university level. We ask employers to tell us what they look for in new employees and then make sure that our students develop the key skills and knowledge that puts them ahead of the competition. We also ensure that you have the option to follow a career pathway specific to particular jobs, from Level 2 all the way through to a university-level qualification. Where you start, which route you take and how far you go, will depend on you and what you want to be in the future.
