A very happy Rebecca achieved a 6 in English and explained what it means to her, ‘I’m over the moon as it means I can move on to Level 4 Counselling now I’ve finished my Level 3 at college. The support I’ve received has been fantastic. I’m dyslexic so the extra study sessions in preparation for my exam were invaluable, our tutor Karen has been an incredible help.’

The wellbeing team has been a terrific support to me and my tutor has been so helpful and I can now progress to my Level 4 in Counselling. I can’t sing the praises of my tutor enough.’

Beaming alongside her classmates, Sarah explains her GCSE English success and her journey returning to learning at college, “I’m delighted with a 6 in English. I would have been happy with a 4 but a 6 has blown me away. I’ve not been in education for nearly 40 years so it was a big deal for me to come to college, It took a lot of courage but I’m so glad I did it. I’m an author and I wanted to attain my GCSE English as validation for my writing, as it’s turned out the whole experience has inspired me so much. I’m now currently halfway through my latest novel and this course has enthused me enormously whilst writing it. I attended the extra study sessions my tutor put on and they were so worthwhile. For anybody studying for their GCSEs I’d recommend giving it your all throughout and making the most of ANY extra study sessions that tutors put on, they make all the difference. I’ve certainly caught the learning bug so expect to see me back in college again soon!’

“I got a Grade 4 in English which is what I needed to get into university. I came across as a refugee from the Ukraine. My plan was to go to university in the Ukraine so when I came across to the UK I wanted to carry on with my plans. In the UK you need your GCSE English to be able to apply.

The Exam itself was quite hard for me as English isn’t my first language. I am now off to university to study Game Art. It’s an industry I’ve always wanted to be in.

I’m so excited to go to university. My friend from the Ukraine is moving from Spain to go to the same university as me.”

Callum was more than pleasantly surprised with his 6 in English and aims to use it to progress further at work in the future. ‘The tutors here have been great and whilst I was hoping to pass I didn’t expect this, I’m so so happy with a 6. I finished college last year and currently work as a mechanic at a motorsports garage. I’m hoping this GCSE will open doors for me further down the line when there are opportunities to progress at work.’
