Hair and Beauty Case Study

Level 3 Technical Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Media Make-Up Artistry

“The best thing about this course is that we can be creative with make-up and express ourselves with our ideas. Something I’ve found very interesting is learning about the history of make-up and hair, how it has developed over the decades and how we can adapt those ideas.

When I left school I thought about what I really enjoy doing. Make-up has always been something that I love but I wasn’t sure it could really lead to a career, thankfully it has and I’m so glad I followed a path in something I have a real passion for. I now work in Boots on the make-up counters and I would like to progress my education into the field of business to work my way up the career ladder.

Every single tutor has been incredibly supportive. They have helped to open our eyes as to the huge range of careers out there for someone skilled in media make-up and how to really go after those career goals. They provided us with links to get invaluable work experience out in industry too.

I’d never even heard of half of the job roles that you can progress into with these skills! You could work on a set of a soap opera, films, photo shoots, catwalks, sales counters, be a freelance make-up artist, work on bridal make-up or become a make-up brand trainer; there are so many avenues to go down in this industry.”
